WOMEN OF DYNAMITE STATUES & BUSTS
Package Design | Branding (line) | Art Direction
STATUES:
This series of 12" tall statues were designed based on the art of some of the biggest names in the comic book industry. In the past, Dynamite's statue packaging, although very good, was always statue specific. As the company's first statues during my time as Art Director, I wanted to create a unified line aesthetic. Part of that was to make sure that the boxes could be displayed either vertically or horizontally depending on a retailer's available shelf space. I made sure this stayed consistent on the boxes that I designed, as well as the ones designed by others that I oversaw.
Dejah Thoris by Campbell, Red Sonja by Campbell, and Dejah Thoris by Cho are all 100% designed by me. Vampirella by Campbell, Purgatory by Turner, and Jungle Girl by Cho designs were started by and/or art directed by me.
BUSTS:
A series of small, resin busts based on the art of comic book artist Arthur Adams. I wanted these to be recognizable as part of a series, but have their color schemes be specific to the characters. I chose to have these differ from the overall design from the Women of Dynamite statue boxes so that the busts and statues could stand out from one another, but kept the row of turns as a common thread between the two series
Also part of these projects were polyfoam die-lines, certificates of authenticity, tampo stamps for the statue bases, and UPC stickers (not shown).
